Over a Thousand Investors Gather in Luanda for Global Tourism Forum

 Global Tourism Forum Angola

Luanda is currently hosting the Global Tourism Forum – Investment Summit Angola 2026, taking place from June 17 to 19, 2026. The event began yesterday and has already brought together more than a thousand investors, policymakers, and business leaders, making it a landmark platform for positioning Angola as one of Africa’s most dynamic emerging tourism and investment destinations.

Organized by the World Tourism Forum Institute, the summit aims to mobilize global capital, strengthen public–private collaboration, and explore Angola’s vast tourism and investment potential.

Bulut Bağcı, President of the Institute, emphasized that Angola represents “one of the most promising investment frontiers, not only in Africa but globally.” The summit is designed to connect investors with projects that can drive sustainable growth across the region.

Angola’s Minister of Tourism, Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, has highlighted tourism as “an essential pillar of the economic diversification strategy,” pointing to the country’s rich natural and cultural assets.

🌍 Key Focus Areas of the Summit:

  • Tourism investment as a multiplier for economic growth.
  • Infrastructure development and improved air connectivity.
  • Global partnerships involving sovereign wealth funds, institutional investors, and governments.
  • Sustainability through the protection of natural and cultural heritage.

While Angola’s tourism sector still lags behind other regional destinations due to infrastructure and connectivity challenges, these are seen as opportunities for investment. With growing interest from capital in the Gulf, Asia, and Europe, Angola is positioning itself as a relevant player on the global investment map.

The summit directly supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) and SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities). By promoting responsible tourism, economic diversification, and inclusive growth, Angola is taking significant steps toward building a resilient and sustainable future.
